Honest Reveiw of 117 West 13th
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location in Greenwich Village
Cons:
Very old building, loud on street side, back side has poor sunlight and looks directly into other units in the building in. Constantly doing construction in the building and outside of building. Elevator is extremely slow. There are cockroaches in the building exterminator only comes once a month and if you are not home you will miss it.

Bait and Switch!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighborhood, walkable to many shops, super is a good guy.
Cons:
I signed my lease for my 6th floor dream apartment and moved in... not TEN MINUTES after I unpacked and put away the contents of my very last box, I got an email from the building saying they were shutting down the elevator for renovations for 3 1/2 months. So my dream apartment with the gorgeous views on the 6th floor became a walk-up with 6 days notice. I’m disabled.... it’s exhausting and painful for me to move. And it’s impossible for me to do 6 flights of stairs. I panicked and called the office... they offered to let me move into a one bedroom in the second floor. It’s basically the same rent but it’s smaller, the bathroom is very difficult for me to use because it’s smaller, and there is literally nothing outside of my windows except a wall. There is zero light. NONE. Like, I have to use lamps all day and I cannot see any sky or a tree or anything at all, I’m paying almost the same rent for a massively inferior unit because the owners “forgot” to tell the brokers that this building was going to be shutting down their elevators. They didn’t offer to pay my moving fees ($700 to two guys to pack up my stuff and move it down 4 floors), they rushed/forced me to sign a new lease, the horrible woman in the leasing office was super rude about the entire thing and unapologetic and then made the second lease signing even more difficult for me. It’s been a nightmare, I cry about how dark and depressing this unit is almost every day. And it’s like $3500 a month... during the pandemic, $3500 gets you a nice place. There’s no way this unit is worth that much, there’s a reason why it was empty and unused for months and months before they forced me to take it out of desperation. They’re crooks and cruel and I highly recommend running away from BLDG Management.
Advice to owner:
Make this right. Pay my moving fees, reduce the rent for this unit, apologize to me, and give me your written word that you will move me back into a better place once the elevators are finished. Because I took the brunt of this mistake on your part and that’s unfair, I’m a disabled woman living alone and you’re one of the largest landlords in the entire city, it shouldn’t be my burden that you swindled me.
