-I loved my studio apartment, it was cozy and had everything I needed -Full size fridge, gas stove, decent sized bathroom -I could fit a full size bed and a couch -I was on the top floor and had great natural light -The back building was incredibly quiet -Amazing neighborhood near coffee shops and bars and steps from the L train -Small building that has an East Village vibe
Cons:
-I think the biggest con (and from what I have read seems to be a shared experience) is that the owner does not give the security deposit back. I luckily got it back after 3 months of texts/emails threatening legal action. I also didn't have a relationship with the owner at all when I lived there. I sent my rent payments via Zelle to a random gmail. I only got the owners number when I moved out which I got from a neighbor. It all seemed really sketch and it's terrible that they don't give people their money back. -It gets pretty cold in the winter, the heat isn't super great. The super gave me a space heater that I could use. -I luckily didn't have rat issues although I can't speak for other units. It wasn't until my last week that there was a giant cockroach in my apartment (and I found some dead ones as well). That could have been because I hadn't been in my apartment much that week but I didn't love that. I also had centipedes and spiders all year round. -There are A TON of rats in the courtyard where they keep the garbage -I was on the top floor and my roof leaked when it rained heavily outside. -No laundry, obvious, but something to keep in mind.
Advice to owner:
Give people their security deposit back and have relationships with your tenants

Pros:
Great location and good garbage management. Heat is powerful and water pressure is good too.
Cons:
Constant debacles with ConEd over cooking gas issues. Horribly maintained hallways and building entry. Clear presence of rodents in the courtyard. Roaches during the summertime. Poor response time from management on building or apartment issues. No building superintendent presence. Bad communication.
