Great neighbors, GREAT location. Loved living here but Bushwick is plagued with sleazy landlords and ugly new developments
Cons:
New landlord bought the property and attempted to force out tenants in under 30 days. Several in the building had occupied their units for 5-10 years. Building has more issues than I could count

Slum Lord Manager for HRA
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice block. Great area.
Cons:
Land Lord is a slum lord with many violations inside apartments and basement was condemned by the city until she finally paid her tickets & fixed what violations they found at that time. A plumber she sent told me the plumbing is not up to code with pipes all to small causing constant issues and I do not think the electrical wiring will meet code either as she only hires non licensed workers. She left wiring hanging from ceiling light in my daughters bedroom for two years after the upstairs toilet water ruined my daughters room and mattress. I had to buy her a new one and machine to steam clean old nasty Carpet that she won’t replace or clean that was ripped and frayed at doors when I moved in. When ever I do ask for anything to be fixed she started yelling at me as if I were her unruly child or someone who owed her money, which I did not. The bathroom ceiling is covered in mold so badly and she wouldn’t fix all these years so I painted it black so my kids wouldn’t be embarrassed. If it wasn’t Covid I would move.
Advice to owner:
Fix the broken windows, floors and doors. Treat the mold. Fix the plumbing & electrical the way the city made you fix the gas before we blew up and they made you clean up your hoard in basement but you need to treat for bugs. Also, stop coming to front stoop and screaming at tenants that They are racial slurs trying to embarrass people in front of neighbors. That is called retaliation and it’s intimidation and against the law. All neighbors know you are manager for HRA screaming and calling people racial slurs when you are a slum lord and Manager for HRA. It’s despicable. Fix your property or the city will make you! I will see this slum lord in court & sue for living in unsafe conditions if need be.
