Cons
Never got my lease signed by landlord but that's happened to me before. There have been break-ins and there is construction going on constantly. the owner gave the bldg to her daughter or something this last summer and we got texts and notices saying that we had to start taking out our own trash and recycling. When we kept putting our trash in the bins on the ground flr they removed them. I think someone called 311 and reported them cuz it was illegal so we have 2 trash cans and a weid box that is supposed to be for recycling. if you're green DO NOT MOVE HERE. they don't mention at lease negotiation that energy costs are WAY higher than other buildings bc of all the cracks in the exposed bricks and stuff. I can hear the wind coming thru the spaces btwn the windows and bldg ext facade during winter and during summer my ac L E G I T can't be felt bc it gets sucked out thru the same cracks. my conEd bill was like 200-250 when I worked from home. Now that I'm back in-office it's slightly less than $200 p/m but i have to remember to unplug everything n turn off every light. Oh and there r cameras everywhere and they have sound. Landlord is def suss. When things changed they didn't tell us it was her daughter and her granddaughter that were the new "property managers" and old landlord had me make my checks out to her personal name even tho the bldg is owned by her LLC and I was told to make out other rent checks to the LLC...I might break my lease tbh bc it's too messy and for about the same price I can get something in a building with walls that don't shake when contractors use a drill
Advice to the owners
Sell the building if you can't manage it and if there is gonna be long-term construction renters should be told and need rent to be reduced
