Could be worse I guess...
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location was nice, it was in the heart of the East Village.
Cons:
The staircase was really narrow. There's no package room so we often got packages stolen. We had a centipede infestation and just lots of bugs overall. This may be due to the construction that they did not disclose to us before we moved in but started after we moved in. They left the door wide open while they had construction and clogged up the dark, narrow, and windy staircases (staircases also had some loose metal bits on it) with equipment. They pounded so hard above us that the ceiling rained dust and chunks on us. They messed up something along the water line and we had a big nasty leak from the light fixtures in the ceiling for several days. They refused to turn on heat in the winter so we had to get portable heaters in our rooms just to stay remotely warm. The water pressure was non existent.
If anything, they were on top of the trash situation but only in terms of writing very angry emails to us every other week to threaten us with fees, and also grabbing our trash bags from our hands when we went to go throw our trash away and going through it in front of us to berate us for how we separated our plastics. (We put a very dirty, sticky piece of plastic in our normal trash bag with a lot of food waste that we couldn't clean off on it and they raised their voices at us on our way out to class). The natural light situation was awful for our specific apartment in the common areas and in two of the fourth bedrooms.
Advice to owner:
become better people.
