The location is great, the neighborhood is nice and very cute.
The rent would be very reasonable/a good deal if the management wasn't so horrible.
Cons:
The three main problems I dealt with at this building were cockroaches, intruders who would steal my things, and general disorganization from management that, on one occasion, caused me to be welded shut into my apartment.
I dealt with a cockroach problem and the building had an exterminator but he was very flakey. I ended up hiring my own exterminator which management was happy with until they saw the bill. All exterminators I talked to, including the old and new ones hired by management, told me that they needed to visit regularly to control the situation. However, management would not schedule them. After I complained a few times, they tried to blame me for being "messy" and causing the infestation, even though I had a cleaner and every visitor from management (super, building manager) who came by commented on how nice and clean my apartment was.
There were multiple instances of intruders on my property. The first time it happened, the owner of the leasing company, Mark, gave me a call and told me it was likely someone else in the building who got lost, after which he laughed at me for being fearful. Later that year, my bike and suitcase were stolen while I was on vacation. I bought a security camera with my own money and that was stolen as well, catching an intruder at 4AM. Once I filed a police report, management started taking me more seriously and put more cameras up for me. The intruder situation happened twice more before I was fully moved out. Every time I asked to see footage from the main building security, management would tell me they were waiting to receive it, for weeks on end, which made me further suspicious that it was someone in the building breaking in, since they always seemed to know when I was out of town.
This apartment was just overall miserable to live in because of all these incidents. I never had peace of mind. I had a good renewal offer but you couldn't pay me to continue living there.
