worst landlord of my life

Pros:
love the location, love the people.
Cons:
Horrible management company. Unresponsive (they insist we fax any complaint, as if this is 1990), indifferent, generally horrible.
Advice to owner:
act like you run a building where people pay $8,000 or more a month for a unit. We'll be moving when our lease is up

Nice building, horrible management

Pros:
Most of the neighbors are great and friendly, the building is nice, you don’t really hear any noise from your neighbors
Cons:
Management is horrible. They tried to give tenants only 2 business days before starting a major elevator modernization that wasn’t urgent. 2 business days notice is illegal. There are a lot of older/disabled people here that can’t use the stairs and need more time to plan for a long elevator shutdown. They only changed their mind due to swift legal action taken by the tenants through an attorney. The tenants had previously expressed their concerns and asked for a postponement and management said no. They wouldn’t even speak to tenants over the phone and they told them to “write a letter or fax” their concerns. They also supposedly do not return security deposits to their tenants. I’d recommend avoiding any building managed by RCR management.
Advice to owner:
Treat your tenants like human beings and give them plenty of notice next time before attempting to heavily disrupt their daily lives.
