Prewar pros, prewar cons. Great location.
Pros
- New kitchen appliances - gas stove, dishwasher (small but serves its purpose). - Lots of windows for natural light and airflow. - Units feature prewar molding details, brick walls. - Located right next to a great, friendly laundry service + cafe.
Cons
- Shower water pressure in shower is terrible - even with a new shower head. Not sure if this is because water is included in rent and management doesn't want to pay for more, or because the old pipes just won't allow it. - Faucet water temperature can get up to scalding hot in a matter of seconds (legitimately 180 degrees), would not recommend having kids here. - Antiquated steam heating system is very hot and very loud - you can get used to the hissing sounds on regular cold days, but when it drops to the teens it literally sounds like someone is banging on the radiator/pipes with a hammer for hours at a time. - Ongoing construction on both ends of the block for massive luxury buildings that will take a couple years to finish, and will probably hike up the price of rent once construction is completed. - Trash room fills to overflowing very quickly and has mice living in it.
Advice to the owners
Improve the water pressure if possible, empty the trash room more often.
