Might be nice higher up; first floor is a nightmare
Former Tenant
Pros:
It's a great location with easy access to two major subway stations and plenty of grocery and food options. Location-wise it's unmatched. The apartment itself is comfortable enough - the bathroom is great and is my favorite part of the whole apartment. No pest or rodent problems anywhere that I can see, and minimal insects.
Cons:
Living on the first floor, the sound of each of the two entryway doors opening and closing echoes throughout my apartment up to 30 times a day. The hallway is small and has tiled floors, so the sounds are amplified further in the apartments bordering that hallway. The sound of the mailboxes being opened every single time also echoes into the apartment. The sound alone would make me move (but this might be unique to the first floor - I can't speak to the other floors).

Whitney, the receptionist for the leasing office, is lovely. But maintenance is uncoordinated and unorganized - they brought the wrong lights to replace burnt out bulbs on one occasion, delaying the fix by a whole weekend. The bathroom towel rack and toilet paper rolls were also poorly installed, both falling off the wall on separate occasions.

They also raised the rent by 300 dollars were I to resign the lease. This apartment is completely not worth it.
Advice to owner:
The super is completely unhelpful and has a poor attitude. When I told him I'd been locked out after hours on a weekend, and couldn't call the leasing company to get keys, he told me he told me to call a locksmith in a rude tone, and finally helped me to get the door open using two screwdrivers after I told him I couldn't afford a locksmith. He asked me if I assumed he'd be helping me for free, as tools are expensive. Ultimately, he guilt-tripped me into compensating him for DOING HIS JOB.
