Quiet Block in the Heights
Pros
Quiet compared to most other buildings/blocks in the heights. Maintenance was always quick to help. 1 block from the 190th station
Cons
Some mice and roaches but nothing out of the ordinary for NYC. No major cons.
Rent stabilized Dominican enclave
Pros
The building is 100 years old pre war with many long standing families living in the building for generations. Many of the apartments are rent stabilized and priced well below market value. The subway is less than 2 blocks away. The common areas are generally cleaned frequently.
Cons
The building is 100 years old and has been patched up with shoddy construction throughout the apartments. Because of rent stabilization, the owners are not incentivized to quality work because of the inability to raise rents. The building is in a very loud section of neighborhood on a very busy street. The buildings front door never locks properly and often Homeless people would sneak and and sleep under the stairs, frequently urinating in the hallway. Packages are often stolen from the lobby, and the cameras are fake.
