    Iconic Prewar building in Inwood

    4761 Broadway is a gracious prewar (1920s) 6 story building on the corner of Broadway and Dyckman (200th) Street in the northernmost neighborhood in Manhattan: Inwood. Many, of not most of the units are rent stabilized, and there are many people who have lived here for years. It has a unique design: entrance through a courtyard and the different “houses” radiating around the central courtyard. The apartment units vary in size layout and many have the original architectural features (molding, parquet floor, classic 1 panel doors) intact. The super and assistant super are extremely conscientious, as well as courteous and affable. Because of six separate entrances (Houses) there are six elevators; therefore not too many apartments have to share one elevator. It is literally on top of the A Train station, so the subway is as close as you can get. Great place all around.
    Cons:
    Because it is on a very busy corner, it tends to get noisy, especially in units that face Broadway and Dyckman Street. The weekend nights can get quite loud, especially in the summer.
    Advice to owner:
    This is an historic building, and when maintaining, renovating keeping the historic features intact as much as possible should be a priority. It can only improve the value.
