Landlord is in this for a cash grab and raises rent dramatically every renewal while doing nothing to properly upkeep the buildings or respond to tenant issues. Building security is nonexistent, they haven't even bothered to put proper locks on the front door. An exterminator is offered every month because the buildings are infested with mice and there are rats running rampant in the courtyard because the LL can't even be bothered to put in a proper dumpster. Unless you're desperate, find another place.

Quiet building but lackluster management

Pros:
The building is on a quiet street and it’s mostly comprised of 1 br or studio apartments so it’s never too noisy.
Cons:
The landlord is very slow to respond to requests and chalks things like stolen packages up to the cost of living in East Village. The entirety of the two years I lived there the front door could be forced open. Also, the building uses a virtual doorman to buzz in people, meaning instead of buzzing someone in, the systems calls your cellphone. It took months for the landlord to get me setup with that and even then so was more of a hassle then anything as I would get solicitors calling me somehow as frequently as once a day.
