Great, quiet place to live
Pros
Apartments that face the back of the building are very quiet and neighbors can't be heard through the walls (except upstairs neighbors occasionally). The super is amazing, he takes great care of the building. Some of the apartments are updated, some are not. Older apartments have definitely seen better days but are perfectly livable. Big kitchen (by NYC standards) with lots of storage.
Cons
The biggest con is that there is no trash chute, trash has to be discarded into the basement from an opening on the street. Bedrooms are extremely tiny - I recommend sharing a two bedroom apartment with someone you're very close with, since you'll likely be spending a lot of time in the common space.
Advice to the owners
I appreciate their responsiveness and quick turnaround.
Not worth the price
Pros
The landlords were relatively responsive and fixed the things that got broken in the house. Big kitchen, big washing machine.
Cons
The walls are super thin you can hear your neighbors you can hear your roommate - you can even hear what your neighbor SAYS which is definitely not normal. The neighbors are super noisy - lots of young guys who blast music all night long even at 2 AM. When we moved in half of our windows were not closing properly which means that they did not check whether they were in working condition or not. It’s way too expensive for what it is: our rent increased by 50% after one year, and you can’t even control the heat, there is no AC with the apartment, and the rooms get incredibly stuffy and hot in the summer even with fans, so no AC is just unacceptable, especially for the 3600 $ renewed price. Furthermore the pipes in the apartment bang and clank super loud in the winter there’s really nothing to do about it. I literally did not get any sleep during the winter. There’s no laundry and dryer in the building.
Advice to the owners
Don’t make the apartment this expensive, and check if your apartment is in working condition before moving in new tenants because I feel like our apartment was not checked before we moved in.
