1910 Old Tenement Conversion
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, Location, Location
size of Apt., great neighborhood, great neighbors,
Privately owned laundromat immediately next door, Multiple delis including one on block, grocery store 2 blocks away, Hudson Yards & Highline 2 blocks west, Midtown South NYPD immediately around corner, safe neighborhood, drugstores, retail stores all nearby.
Cons:
Management not responsive,not-helpful, dishonest, rather do repairs cheap rather than right. Lack of respect for tenants needs, not open to reasonable compromise, hostile to current and long-term tenants. Constant owner turnover. Just not interested in being good stewardship of the buildings they own.
Advice to owner:
Invest in proper repairs and needed changes in apartments. Be a partner with your tenants instead of creating adversarial relationships. Strive for a reputation of excellent management & ownership. Look for long-term solutions rather than quick&cheap. Respect tenants who have been/are invested in long term tenancy, excellent stewardship & who look to be partners with their landlord rather than adversaries.
