Beware of slumlord and dishonest super
Pros
The location, and the water pressure
Cons
Mice, rats, roaches in all apartment no matter how clean you are. Water leaks everywhere that aren’t getting fixed in kitchen and bathroom so keep buckets ready and don’t travel they need to be changed regularly. You get showered when you sit on the toilet from the upstairs neighbors toilet. Heat only works in one room and in that room it’s a 100 degrees so sleep with ac or open window and freeze in the rest of the apartment. Only one window works others are broken. Water temperature is 190 degrees and fluctuates be prepared to burn when taking a shower. Incredibly loud neighborhood windows vibrate from the noise on the street. Fire escape is not safe. We have had no hot water gas or electricity for months and the landlord won’t do anything to make the situation better. We have had wire fires in the walls so fire department had to come several times. Packages keep getting stolen on the regular. Black mold everywhere which is a major health hazard. Just look up on the entrance and you can see it immediately, it’s worse in the apartments. Random giant wooden beams fall of the ceiling in the entryway could have killed someone and nothing is done about it. Super is useless and will lie to you any given time.
Advice to the owners
Fix the building and stop ripping of your tenants. Be happy with the ones you have it’s cheaper to keep the ones you have then having turnovers left and right and potentially getting sued.
Nightmare management, great location
Pros
Location, friendly neighbors (there’s a neighborhood group chat with everyone in the building and we all help each other out)
Cons
Rats, no water at several points, landlord took five months to fix a gas leak that left us with no stoves, and for three months, giant gaps in the walls for them to install electrical wiring. We still don’t always have hot water, and management is terrible. Also, the building was getting broken in to every day and it took over a year for the owner to install a $20 keypad, which makes it impossible for anyone to reach the doorbell system without the code.
Advice to the owners
We need a video intercom like everyone else in the neighborhood because we are unsafe without one.
