Love my unit. Fantastic layout and closet space, amazing prewar details, super tall ceilings. Building is very quiet, hardly ever hear neighbors. I’m 6months in and have no rodent or bugs. Trash collection very prompt. Really friendly building, only 10 units (not fully occupied currently) and neighbors all super nice. Can see myself staying here for a long time.
Cons:
If you have any issues- hire a task rabbit. Management will not respond. Have gone to office and been told to leave a note, even tho I could see my building rep at desk only a few feet away. Advertised as “super onsite” but you are not allowed to contact him, must go through management. Not only are they unresponsive, they are mean. Yelled at me twice when signing lease bc they didn’t like my (totally normal) questions. Would have run away if I didn’t love unit so much.
Stairwell is VERY narrow. If you have medium-to-large furniture pieces they will not fit. Tried two different sofas and a loveseat, all rejected (finally found a modular option)
Also note this is an old nyc building, so radiators do make noise. Not the outrageous metal on metal clanging I have experienced at other buildings, but significant sound. Does not bother me but could be an issue for light sleepers.
Advice to owner:
Treat tenants like people, not criminals. Being nice costs you nothing.
Find a better system to report maintenance issues or allow tenants to reach out directly to super and cut out middle step, especially if building is advertised as “super onsite”.
Invest in online system, can’t believe rent only accepted via physical check in 2021.
