Pros:
First off, this building is steps away from the 4,5,6 trains which is awesome (a block away). It’s near a lot of delis, local restaurants, a gym, a little “complex” of a theatre, bank, fast food, Starbucks, CVS, etc. It’s next to Yankee Stadium. It’s also a small little diverse neighborhood - small in the sense that a lot of people are centered in one area. Target within a small mall is about a 15 minute walk away. However, please read my cons.
Cons:
There are sex offenders in this building, and I hope you won’t be living with one. If I were you, I’d invest money to do a brief background check on the residents of this building before even doing a tour/visit because you’d IMMEDIATELY see some have a history of sex offenses. Some people look very serious but are the slickest sex offenders.
There’s zero air ventilation in some apartments because they are illegally constructed, meaning some spaces are forced to be a bedroom when they shouldn’t be. They have NO windows. You will suffocate like I did.
Within a 2-block radius, this neighborhood is safe especially since Yankee Stadium is nearby so cops are generally alert in this area. Walk further such as walking to the nearby Bank of America and you won’t feel so safe anymore. There’s a courthouse about 3 blocks away. That block is HUGE and the space is HUGE but that’s where homeless people and drug dealers group together.
Water pressure in the apartment is a no no. The bathroom shower’s water pressure is so bad, it was hard to even take a shower.
My biggest problem was the sex offender who lived with me. I didn’t think to check the person’s background until the person went too far. Do your research before moving anywhere, especially here.
Advice to owner:
No comment. My stay was so bad, I’m just glad I’m out of there.
