Cons:
The property management are slum lords. They constantly have issues in the building. There is never any heat or hot water in the building during the winter. If you call 311 the building management retaliate and take you to court to make false statements of owing rent. If you take them to court to fix your apartment they put you on a renters blacklist that other property owners can access and deny you based on what the previous property owner said about you. The intercom system also never worked so if you live on a top floor you have to walk all the way down to open the door. Building does not have an elevator it is a 4 floor walk up. Building also has two illegal apartments on the basement located next to the boiler room. Both illegal apartments have meters belonging to other tenets in their apartments. The building also does not make the meter accessible to Con Edison, Con Edison will then guess how much they assume you are using, and trust me that is always more. They also will never send you your security deposit back.
Advice to owner:
Fix the building properly and you won’t have problems. Stop targeting your tenets to get more money. Stop targeting you tenets because they call 311 to hopefully get their apartments fix to be habitable.
