Pros:
A quiet peaceful area.
Cons:
Is an old building, falling apart. It’s filled with bugs, mice, and a lot of water bugs. Its a private house, so I lived in the first floor, its like a basement apartment.
The landlord controls the thermostat, he never wanted to put up the heat, and the heaters inside the apartment would automatically turn off, so the winters were bad. He doesn’t take out the garbage or put salt when it snows, which is his duty as a landlord; he said we had to do it (me and my partner) and pay out of our pockets for any repairs that had to be done in the house (again, that’s a landlords duty)
We had a neighbor upstairs with 4 kids, and it was horrible, he wouldn’t do nothing about the running, the jumping and all the screaming/arguments that was going upstairs in the house. He said that we are neighbors, and we have to handle it ourselves.
There’s a backyard that is never taken care off, the plants and the bugs are everywhere (be careful in the summer) the neighbors upstairs doesn’t take care of it, and the landlord excuse is that it’s the neighbors responsibility. Mind you, my living was getting filled with bugs because of the backyard, and he still didn’t cared, he sad that I had fix the backyard if I wanted the problem to be solved.
We stud 3 months without hot water DURING FALL and by that time, it was cold outside, we didn’t have hot water because he had to do some repairs with the boiler. He didn’t provide us with anything, he wasn’t giving us any answers towards when we was going to have our hot water back, and he still requested that we pay the rent even if we didn’t have water.
All he and his wife cared about is money, very sad.
Advice to owner:
Be a better thoughtful landlord, not everything is about money, please if you see this, tell that to your wife specially.
