A Former Tenant
Pros
Beautiful neighborhood with lots of nearby transit options, nice tenants, high quality appliances, regularly cleaned hallways, and the unit was virtually soundproof compared to other pre-war buildings! It was a great first apartment and I look back fondly on it.
Cons
During the few years I lived there, the owner had sold the building and we were under new management. The new management did not respond to problems as quickly - including the messy trash area outside and the bugs that came in from the poorly installed windows. I remember bugs were the worst when the summer heat rose, and my curtains would blow from the wind - and yes, they were fully shut. The flooring had gaping holes around the radiators, too - but that never caused issues in my case. Outside noise wasn't too bad, but it is near a fire station - so that's good to know beforehand. The building door also locked automatically - which was unfortunate if you forgot your keys, and my buzzer also did not work (had to go up and down a lot of stairs to get any deliveries or let in guests.)
Advice to the owners
If management has not changed in the last handful of years, I'd say to just stay more on top of things and fix interior issues like windows or floors.
