Good building, but with flaws.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is great. Exposed brick wall. Nice looking apartment.
Cons:
My studio apartment had no closet which was difficult. It was claustrophobic. I could hear every noise from the hallway - it sounded like they were in my apartment.

Review from a 2019-2020 tenant
Former Tenant
Pros:
The main draw of this building is the location! It’s on a very pretty block and close to the subway and grocery store. Good light on the back side of the building, and a nice view. There are also some cool architectural details that I appreciated, like the stained glass and double swinging doors at the building entrance. It’s an old building, so very solid and very quiet, which was nice. Big windows and high ceilings.
Cons:
Studios are tiny, but that’s Brooklyn Heights, so it’s to be expected. The kitchen and appliances were very small, though, even by NYC standards. Literally no counter space at all, so you’ll have to buy one of those kitchen islands and figure out how to arrange it so that it doesn’t get scorched by the radiator. That was fine before the pandemic, when I spent very little time in my apartment, but if you plan to spend a lockdown here or do a lot of cooking, that’s something to consider. That said, the building changed ownership right before I moved, so it’s possible that the appliances have been updated. There are a lot of weird nooks and crannies that are impossible to reach and clean. There were an uncomfortable amount of roaches and centipedes coming in off the roof and through the gaps in the brick wall. It’s normal to see some every now and then, but it got to the point where I was seeing a couple of giant roaches every week. I think the brick needs to be sealed.
Advice to owner:
Seal up the brick walls, please, and consider putting in radiator covers…I definitely burned myself several times trying to do normal activities.
