Landlord is completely MIA and nuts. I honestly don't think she's been in this building since she bought it. She flips out when you contact her. Her email address literally has "go away" in it. She refuses to fix anything that is broken and tried to make us pay for heating once, which is completely illegal. She threatened to not renew my lease because I sent her an email once and on the phone she talks over you and claims that she is not responsible for anything. When she was actually having construction done, it was stopped for months because she hadn't gotten any of the permits for it! She is wildly incompetent and a nightmare to communicate with.
To add to it, this place is disgusting and has gotten worse over time. Roaches in the apartments. Mice in the walls. Mold in the bathrooms, which don't have any ventilation. The super is a joke. I saw him *sweeping* the carpet in the hallway instead of vacuuming. Wtf.
Advice to owner:
Sell the building to someone who is actually a competent landlord.
The property company should also fire the super. The building has been especially filthy since he started.

Gross Building in Great Location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location and the apartments are decently sized.
Cons:
Serious roach problem. Landlord lives upstate and probably hasn’t seen the building in years. Hallway lightning, paint, and carpeting are all generally gross and haven’t been updated over the years. Landlord does the absolute minimum. Once when the battery in the front door punch code door lock died, the building management said it was a “luxury,” which is laughable.
Advice to owner:
If you’re going to keep increasing the rent every year, update the building to reflect the rent increase.
