Do not live here if you are sensitive to noise and can’t pay high utilities
Former Tenant
Pros:
There building security is good. Washer and dryer in unit was a nice perk.
Cons:
There were many things I did not like about the building so I left after only 3 months of living there. I would’ve left sooner if possible.
The building is all dry wall and so the walls are paper thin. I could hear everything that happened above me. The upstairs neighbors were super loud (3 kids and a dog). I basically had to wait for them to go to bed before I could fall asleep. I was on the ground floor and my kitchen bordered the building entrance. The building door would slam so loud that it shook the walls and woke me up on multiple occasions. I had to sleep with ear plugs and a noise machine and that wasn’t enough most of the time. The landlord did absolutely nothing to address the noise issue.
The landlord is a bully and a liar and owes me money but I’d have to take him to small claims court to get it. After much consideration I decided it wasn’t worth the time, effort, and stress. He’s a bad person and I am glad I never have to see or speak to him again. He also jacked up the rent by $200 after I moved out for the next tenant even though I was there a short period of time. He’s entitled to do that but it’s greedy and unethical in my opinion.
The building has central air conditioning that barely works. I moved into the place right before winter and on the first truly cold day I noticed the thermostat never got above 70 degrees even though I had it set to 80. I had to run it nonstop just to keep the apartment somewhat comfortable. It ended up being a huge waste of money. I noticed that the landlord has a prior record of litigation for heat and hot water so I wonder if it’s related to what I’m describing.
Advice to owner:
Many rude things I’d like to say to the property owner. Use your imagination.
