Nope don’t do it
Pros
It’s a great central location next to a lot of cool stuff, it’s a corner lot so light is great, large outdoor space
Cons
This building is currently part of a foreclosure suit involving several buildings that the landlord owns. Do not live here even if the apartment is advertised, he is planning on selling the building and the new owners will likely tear it down and you will be kicked out sooner rather than later. The building is not maintained, common areas are never cleaned, there is no place to put garbage, and most calls for repairs go unanswered. Someone took a (human) shit in the front courtyard of this building and it sat there for weeks until the rain washed it away. Our gas keeps getting cut off (twice!) because the landlord doesn’t pay his utility bills and ignores the notices to pay. The decks need to be redone and water comes in through the roof below them. The hot water is barely enough to take a shower with. The apartment is relatively cheap, but overall it’s not worth the stress of living here.
Avoid this building
Pros
Corner location, privacy because there are no neighbors, outdoor space
Cons
Landlord doesn’t fix literally anything, including mold covered leaks and giant holes in the wall, have been waiting for an appliance fix for over a year, bullies his tenants into doing what he wants, doesn’t ask before entering private tenant areas
Advice to the owners
Take care of your damn building or it’s going to fall down.
