As long as we can afford it, we’ll stay!
Pros
The units in this building are fairly large for a NYC apartment. There is a large roof deck over looking the East River and Manhattan. Each floor has a free laundry room. There have been two supers in the time I’ve lived here and both have been wonderful. If something breaks or we have an issue we can always get it fixed fairly quickly. Management generally doesn’t care what you do, I say this is a good thing because all my neighbors are generally great. If they weren’t, this might be a con. It’s an old industrial style building so the ceilings are really tall and the windows are tall as well. Depending on your unit you will get a ton of natural light. Really, my partner and I love living here. There’s no where else in NYC we’d want to live and we’ll stay here for as long as we can (afford to).
Cons
The roof deck, although it has the amazing view, has been in shambles for a long time. The building management removed all the furniture and our ability to bbq. The walls are very very thin in the building. Easily the loudest building I’ve lived in. I can hear the neighbors to the side of me talking in their room, and my upstairs neighbor playing video games. The building gets suuuuper dusty. Idk why, but there is constantly dust everywhere. The mail room situation has very poor security measures. I’ve personally had things taken and I’ve also seen multiple signs from people who have also had things taken from the mail room. Management won’t help you (even though they have cameras) unless you get the police involved. This building, due to the size of the units and location, is expensive.
Advice to the owners
Please fix the roof deck and create a better/safer experience in the mail room!
Cool converted warehouse but way too noisy between apartments
Pros
The aesthetic and location are unbeatable
Cons
Noise travels very easily between floors and walls between units, it’s like they’re in the room with you sometimes, we could hear conversations through the wall. We constantly had the downstairs neighbors complaining about our ‘heavy’ footsteps even though we were just walking around normally
