Cons:
The negatives don’t overweight the positives (only one positive really). The landlord raises your rent by 10-15% every year but does NOTHING to maintain the building. We’ve been living here for almost 15 years and the only reason why this building is still standing is because we do the work ourselves. We lose hot water, we lose heat, we have to take care of our own garbage and snow removal. When it rains heavily we have buckets around the apartment. There are giant water bugs. Landlord doesn’t ever step a foot on this property but has this “handyman” who is COMPLETELY useless and has zero respect for your time because no one ever shows up when they say they will so don’t bother trying to coordinate. Last winter we didn’t have heat and gas for 5 days during the coldest week of the season - freezing apartment and no stove. What does the landlord say? “it’s not my fault so pay full rent”. And it’s not like the rent is below market! The landlord bout this building decades ago for under $300k so you know the mortgage has been paid off a long time ago and the rent that he gets from the 3 units here goes straight to his pocket, you would think there’d be some sort of maintenance
