Beware of basement apartment
Pros
Private backyard to the basement unit, good location
Cons
Property manager is rude and never wants to fix anything. Mail is disorganized, no upkeep on exterior lights, hallway. Have asked to fix the light in my entryway the entire year I lived here. Most important: Basement apt floods EVERY time it rains. They either don’t respond, have an excuse, or say they will fix it and never do. It’s a foundation issue and a big expensive job so I’m not surprised, but it’s not a habitable apartment at this point. I’ve fixed as much as I could myself but still flooding. Also, the sewer overflowed from floor drains into apartment twice this year. RAW SEWAGE. Also there are water leaks from the upstairs apartment into my apartment many times. Took them months to fix the ceiling after they leak. Posting this so others beware, it’s a very cute apartment but sooo many issues. They should not be allowed to rent it out until the fix the major foundation/flooding issues
Advice to the owners
Fix the basement apartment flooding if you are going to rent it out. Otherwise, don’t rent it! Also get a bette property manager that isn’t awful to all the tenants
Lived here 1 year
Pros
It was a cute and charming apartment building. Fire escape looked out onto a lot of trees. It was quiet and amazing location.
Cons
Kitchen was a joke- it was a Closet converted into a kitchen. At one point all the cabinets fell off the wall and would have killed me had they been a normal kitchen size. Lots of huge roaches in the apartment. Probably 10 in a year. Which isn’t bad except they were huuuuuge. Didn’t get my security deposit back even though I cleaned thoroughly. Got ghosted. Beware.
