AnhTest Trendy Bushwick Location with a Few Drawbacks

Pros:
The building is in a lively part of Bushwick, surrounded by trendy cafes, bars, and art spaces, perfect for those who enjoy an active social scene. Public transportation is convenient, with the J and M trains nearby, making commuting into Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn straightforward.
Cons:
Noise can be an issue, as the area is lively and gets loud, particularly on weekends due to the nearby nightlife and street activity. The building is older, and common areas like hallways and stairwells could benefit from regular upkeep and modernization. Some apartments have dated appliances and fixtures that would feel more comfortable with an upgrade.

Do Not Rent From Zalmen

Pros:
The apartment is bright with a good layout and decent appliances. The neighbors are great and very supportive of each other.
Cons:
Oh god, where to begin. When we first moved in, after confirming multiple times, we were told the apartment would be unlocked with the keys inside. The apartment was locked and we were ignored for two hours by the landlord (the first red flag). Though we had great times in the apartment, Zalmen consistently ignored my texts and calls, our cabinet is still broken from previous tenants and spackle marks covered our walls. Nothing ever got fixed unless I pretty much texted him every day to get a response (his read receipts were also on and I could see he was viewing all of my very messages).
The apartment above us flooded and took out one of our smoke detectors, it was never replaced after probably twenty requests. The rest expired and we were only met with an angry Zalmen who did not replace them but instead said we shouldn’t have gotten rid of expired smoke detectors. The number I received for the “super” also consistently ghosted me every time he was supposed to come over to fix anything, two years of living there and he never followed through.
Although the apartment is not terrible I would never recommend to anyone due to the poor management from Zalmen. I’ve probably lost some hair due to stress from his behaviors. ***Also probably never going to hear from him again so kiss your security deposit goodbye.
Advice to owner:
Do not ghost your tenants!
