Landlord is a total prick. We signed a lease that said heat and hot water were included and then found out they lied to us. Had to threaten action for them for pay for the cost of heat. Also the heat was really bad always cold and just did not seem to work evenly through the apartment.
When we moved out the landlord was yelling at us to leave even though we didn’t stay past our lease. I think he was mad because he wanted to install laundry when we were still there since the next person was moving in a day or two after us. He would text me yelling about us ending our gas and electricity service (apparently the new guy never set it up) and would refuse to give us our deposit. Threatened legal action and it took two and a half months to get it.
Overall ovoid.
Advice to owner:
Maybe take a business class and read up on renters laws

Old building, noisy area, and slow to respond landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apts are very spacious and good value. Huge windows allow for great natural lighting. First floor unit has a unofficial backyard space through the kitchen window.
Cons:
The building is above a taekwondo studio so music can get loud. The street noise level is also incredibly loud (ahhh nyc!). The landlord is a kind man and managing himself w business associates, not via a management company. So he is slow to respond, and has to be reminded to address issues. I also think he secretly plugs our shower hose to reduce water pressure a little which he denies, but it’s been noticeably lower after every repair session. Landlord also refused to keep our rent the same (he even raised it by $100!) as we were resigning our lease when COVID lockdowns were just beginning even though we’ve been good tenants who pay on time every month.
Advice to owner:
Be more quick to address maintenance issues. We are good tenants who pay on time and this should be high priority.
