Repair issues addressed fairly quickly (within a few days).
Owner is responsive if it comes to issues that could violate housing code.
Garbage removed regularly.
Cons:
Was told before moving in that the owners son’s lived downstairs and could help with any issues. They did not live there.
If the electric went out we had to go down to the basement to turn it back on. The basement was filthy with dead cockroaches everywhere.
Hallway seldom cleaned (often dusty).
This con is out of the owner’s control but I will warn that when I was living there (moved out January 2019) my bedroom window was near the bathroom window of a resident in the neighboring building. This neighbor would LOUDLY hack up phlegm every. single. day. At first I could ignore it but it got to a point where it would wake me up at times. Honestly surprised I tolerated this for 3 years.
One set of neighbors regularly smoked inside (cigarettes and weed). I often can ignore this but unfortunately the smoke would come up through my heater (and my roommate’s heater) and would stink up our rooms. Noise is sometimes an issue as well.
Advice to owner:
Clean the hallway
If your tenants express problems with neighbors, address the neighbors.
