Livable, but not enjoyable
Pros
Not a lot of units, driveway that fits two cars (between $100 and $200 depending on what mood the landlord is in), in-unit W/D and dishwasher, lots of natural light and high ceilings. 10 min walk from train (also kind of a con, we missed being closer).
Cons
Persistent ant (MASSIVE ones) problem, leaks that ended up being repaired by other tenants on the landlord's behalf - with property damage (never recovered) and mismatched paint, back unit is a duplex that rents out as an Air BnB year-round. Up to 10 people in and out of the place, a different group almost every week. Poor building management and lots of stolen packages. When we moved in, the mailbox could be pulled out in its entirety but was fixed about 9 months later. The front door to our building was jimmied and broken into in May of 2023 (on videotape) and when asked what he planned to do to make us, a building full of women, feel safer, he kindly explained that there was nothing wrong with the door and that he was there to help us "not the other way around." Not even sure what that meant but Chaim is just extremely unhelpful. Harmless and nice, but unhelpful. He also shows up randomly and wants to be let in.
Advice to the owners
Hire a better landlord, or be honest about the kind and quality of management tenants should expect to receive
