Landlord and super respond quickly to any issues in general or with the apartment in particular. Common areas are always kept clean. Lobby in particular has always been kept painted with detail to the original raised plaster designs and colors all of which requires specialized artistic work time and money whereas in most other buildings that have this artwork on the walls, it all just gets painted one ugly color. We are lucky the landlord has elected not to take that easy way, cheap way out.
Over the years, elevators have been refurbished to modern standards, a courtyard garden is maintained that allows for quiet reading or meditation and the laundry room has been upgraded a number of times with new washing machines and dryers.
Cons:
When the landlord first switched over to LED lighting in the common lobby and stairwells, very attractive candelabra type LED bulbs were used that had a color temperature of warm white (3200 kelvin) and that gave the lobby and hallways a welcoming, warm color. As these are burning out recently, they are slowly being replaced by LED bulbs - still candelabra type, but the color is harsh cold white, and now these areas have an ugly feel much like what one would find in one of our prisons. The cold white (6400kelvin) bulbs cost just as much as the warm white but give the place a much less inviting feel -- it's actually now given these spaces a much less inviting feel. Sure wish they'd go back to warm LEDs. Plus whatever bulbs they are using in the hallways outside the apartments are getting off much less light than what we're in there before. The hallways seem dark all the time now.
Advice to owner:
Please put brighter bulbs in the hallway fixtures; low light levels just invite vandalism. just invite
