Could be better; not totally terible
Pros
The apartment structure is great. Duplex. Convenient area with a variety of supermarkets and a subway one block away. For the price, you probably can't find this anywhere else.
Cons
Roaches (many here and there, controllable with pesticides). Mice (2; so far). Water pressure isn't terrible but could be loads better. Heat? He has an HVAC he tried to make us sign papers to be liable for upon moving in which I refused. HVAC is like 15 plus years old and wanted us to potentially shell out 10 grand if it broke while we lived here. Advertised with AC but that shit only cost money to turn on cause it never worked. The heat comes out but that only heats up the 2 by 2 area its pumps the heat out in. Had to buy floor heaters for each room. The landlord told us he doesn't provide extermination services. Pretty sure that's a must in NYC but then again he's a cheapskate who wants to make money and spend nothing to make his tenants comfortable, but that's a usual trait of a landlord in NYC. The ad said pets allowed, when we got the lease it said pets not allowed, brought it up to him, and then he changed to "pets on approval" which makes me believe he'll reject every pet we bring across his eyes cause he wants no pets. The landlord is literally so cheap moving in there was a stove that turned on while we slept. had to plug it out and back in every time we used it. That's dangerous as hell and scary. Who wants to plug and unplug a stove in every use, because it might blow if you take your eyes off one second?
Advice to the owners
Work on your attitude. It sticks and you're incredibly rude
