Very quiet area, not too far from the subway, decent price for this neighborhood, because sheepshead-bay is getting really expensive, nice neighbors (mostly families with kids).
Cons:
The worst super I ve ever met. Rude short guy, who thinks of himself too much. Want to use a backyard? Forget it, he ll do everything to kick you out and threaten you. It takes him forever to get his job done. My pipe is still dripping and he doesn’t do anything about it for months. I asked him to please not put my recycling garbage into a black bag, he keeps doing it. I care about the planet and I spend hours on washing my plastics everyday, this situation makes me extremely angry. The landlords’ friend Mike, which they always bring around is a sexist pos who has an audacity to slutshame me for having male friends and guests, this is unacceptable. The building is very old, pipes are constantly breaking and leaking all over the building. I have so many leaks, it’s crazy. The walls and ceiling are very thin you can hear your neighbor walking upstairs which is very irritating. The whole building has issues with American roaches, some apartments have issues with mice. The landlord is cheap and doesn’t do much about it. The whole block has issues with “”water bugs”” = American roach. Stay away from this area. I am having some problems with electricity which could cause fire. No smoke detectors. This building doesn’t make me feel safe, I am tired of roaches which run all over my stuff and make me sick (I am allergic to them). The WORST experience I ve ever had. Update: I had to hire someone, because the landlord would not take my complaints about the musty smell seriously. They found a very toxic mold which can cause lung failure and even death. I am having some health issues and I had to skip work because of that. Not to mention we had a problem with the flooding a couple of days ago. Definitely have to file a lawsuit. Please avoid.
Advice to owner:
Please get a better super. This person is not nice and he doesn’t get his job done. Fix the rodent and pest problem. Get rid of Mike. Take your job more seriously.
