Nice unit, good neighbors. A bit remote but that’s ok.

Pros:
High ceilings, lots of natural light, bathroom was renovated completely a year or so ago.
Great central air and heating. Never had any issue staying cool in the summer or warm in the winter.
Nice neighbors in the building. Red hook is quiet in a good way and has good bars and restaurants if you don’t mind being far from the train.
Renewed my lease multiple times and never more than a $50 per month increase after each year which is great compared to what my friends have been dealing with over the same time period.
Cons:
Far from the train. Closest is the FG and it’s easily a 13-15 minute walk. Had to rely on bikes and Lyfts more than I’d like.
Not a lot of grocery options nearby. I do most of my errands in carroll gardens near the train.
No dishwasher, no laundry in unit or building. Lugging my laundry 10-15 minutes to the nearest laundromat is a struggle.
Google the landlord’s name before you sign a lease. There will be results.
Extremely hands off management style - which is bad if you need repairs but good re: rent increases mentioned above.
Would not recommend this as a first time NYC apartment for all the reasons mentioned. Good place if you’re fully aware of what you’re getting yourself into.
