Nightmare Apartment, No Heat or Hot Water, Flooding

Pros:
Big, beautiful apartment with a downstairs and two bathrooms. Would be perfect if it had been properly maintained and not managed by a slumlord.
Cons:
Landlord requested 500 more dollars than the apartment was listed for before we even signed the lease, claiming that he only listed it at the price he did because no one would buy it for 500 dollars more (so why would we?!). We were promised the place would be renovated before we moved in. It wasnt. It's dirty, there are cracks in the windows, exposed nails, paint job is laughably sloppy, all doors except for the back are literally pieces of plywood cut into the shape of a door. We've had mice in my roommate's room. The cosmetic and even pest issues I was willing to overlook, but since the beginning of winter we have had repeated issues with heat and hot water as well. Over a month with no heat in the coldest month of the year and the basement flooded. Plumbers came to supposedly fix the water in the bathroom but instead opened up two giant holes, about 3 feet each (one in the wall behind our shower & one in the floor next to toilet) and have left it that way for over a week. When these disasters began my landlord, Leo K., who I never met in person suddenly passed me off to a new management company with no explanation and said I had a new landlord. Each time someone was sent to "fix" an issue they would either begin the work and not return or just not actually solve the issue.
