The upstairs tenants in 2R were awful, incredibly loud, and disrespectful of everyone else in the building. On a weekly basis they'd have literally a dozen children running, stomping, and screaming in the building's hallways and over my head. They made my living experience a nightmare, regularly keeping me up until past 3am and making daily life miserable. It sounds like a normal NYC complaint, just get over it right? Wrong, the noise issue was on another level, in my ten years in this city I've never had a neighbor behave even close to this disrespectfully.
The management company, All Year MGMT, were completely unhelpful and gaslit me the entire year, making it seem like I was the problem even though I was a quiet and respectful neighbor. The 2R residents were completely unreasonable with their noise levels and no amount of proof, pleas, or negotiating would get the management company to help with the issue. Do not live here or in any other building managed by All Year MGMT. The building also had an unmanaged cockroach issue and a number of other maintenance problems.
Advice to owner:
My advice to the property owner would be to hire a new management company and my advice to the management company would be to set reasonable, enforceable rules for the building. Help out tenants who politely bring up problems and realize that the building you manage is their home. It's not just a profit machine, real people with real lives live here and it's your responsibility to make sure the conditions there are livable. If certain tenants violate the rules and disturb everyone else in the building, they should be warned and eventually evicted.
