Big apartments, horrible management
Pros
The apartments themselves are in pretty good condition. There’s always going to be something wrong with an nyc apartment, but as far as I know no pests, no major leaks, etc. the super and his assistant are always on top of everything and will come to help at any hour
Cons
Management is totally useless. Impossible to reach them by phone and they take months to answer emails in what seems like them trying to have the upper hand in any matter. Elevator breaks often and I’ve already seen 5 people get stuck in there with the fire dept having to come to take them out in the year I’ve lived here. Roof access is restricted and doesn’t really have any furniture in comparison to neighboring buildings.
Advice to the owners
Do something about the elevator and resolve issues more quickly!!!
Good Place, with hidden costs
Pros
Building was maintained well, and the tenants in the building mostly kept to themselves. The views from the roof were spectacular, and you could usually find a seat up there whenever you wanted. Close to Key Foods, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Cons
The CTAC AC/Heating units were substandard, and on were barely able to keep up with the summer heat. ConEd bills would run in the +$300 range during the summer, and in the winter, temps could drop to the 50s even with the units running full time. You would assume at the price you pay for these apartments, the AC would at least work. The location of this build is pretty far from the train as well, but if you work from home this isn't a concern.
Advice to the owners
Instead of rotating the CTAC units, they should be entirely replaced with modern machines that can operate more efficiently.
