Mold infested wallz
Pros
Yard. But couldn't enjoy it for too long because mosquitoes were rampant due to stagnant water in the empty lot next door
Cons
Flooded every time it rained. Tore up the ceiling to remove mold and left pipes and wires exposed. Painted over mold. Lrgt the apt spotless and Withheld deposit just to be greedy.
Advice to the owners
Care
Nice until winter time or hurricane season
Pros
Building was kept fairly clean and neighbors were great - friendly, no one was stealing packages, etc.
Cons
The three worst things about living here were how cold it got in the winter, the mold, and the flooding during hurricane season. We lived in a basement unit so the basement rooms got VERY cold in the winter and we constantly had to decide between staying warm or paying an exorbitant amount in electric. Speaking of the basement, the basement bathroom didn't have an air vent so it developed mold soon into us moving in and the mold eventually spread to my roommate's room right in front of the bathroom. In terms of hurricane season, the upper floors probably didn't have an issue but the basement units ALWAYS flooded. At one point water started coming in through a light fixture in the ceiling. It was truly terrible, and added to the mold problem. The landlord would send out warning texts but how did they expect us to move things several inches above the floor? We had beds, desks, and heavy items down there. Also, after the last hurricane season we experienced there he took several days to send someone over and in the end they never really fixed the bad mold issue. On top of all that he tried to keep our security deposit until we threatened legal action.
Advice to the owners
Add an air vent to the basement bathroom, make it so the basement units no longer flood, and respond to tenant issues more promptly.
