Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews highlight buildings managed by "20 MAGAW APTS" as a mixed bag. Buildings vary from poorly maintained with pest issues and unresponsive management to well-maintained but with occasional cleanliness and security concerns. While some appreciate the location and space, others face persistent pest problems, stolen packages, and insufficient heat or water pressure. Responsive supers and the availability of amenities like laundry rooms are noted positives. Overall, there's room for improvement in communication, maintenance responsiveness, security enhancements, and cleanliness standards across the properties. Prospective tenants should consider these aspects before choosing to reside in these buildings.

Horrible maintenance times. Old plumbing. Tubs constantly backed up. Hear and hot water go out. No repairs or response on weekends. Super does not respond to texts or calls. Very sloppy, dirty building. Bugs. Do not rent in this building.

Doing The Bare Minimum for High Rents

Pros

The building bricks are solid, doesn’t seem to be crumbling any time soon. Neighbors are somewhat respectful and keep to themselves. Doors work. Windows work.

Cons

Biggest problems are inconsistency in cleaning and lack of security. Building often feels unsafe. Security system is archaic and barely works. Random people ring the bell and because the “virtual doorman” camera is blurry and the speaker system stopped working, we don’t know if it’s a delivery, a crackhead or kids playing around with the bell. Sometimes people find their way from off the street or onto the roof and there is no way to scare trespassers from trespassing. No cameras anywhere except for the nice neighbors on the first floors ring light, but that has limited visibility to the rest of the building. Due to lack of security delivery packages get stolen often if we don’t run down soon as they arrive, making it difficult to leave for the day or work from home. The building hallways and stairs are full of dust, especially the stairs leading up to the roof which surely trickles the dust down to the rest of the building regularly. The heat hasn’t been turned on some of the coldest days this winter. Water pressure has been low past couple of weeks. Grateful for the laundry room, but that too is full of dust. Gross’ me out to drop anything on the floor by mistake, especially when transferring wet clothes to the dryer, because of the dirt.

Advice to the owners

Please update virtual doorman for both buildings. Please install a security camera in both building lobbies. Please install a sensor light and camera on the roof. Please answer emails in regard to security and disturbances on the roof.
