Don’t let the fresh coat of paint fool you

Pros

Newly renovated apartment

Cons

Only half the building is renovated. The other half is rent controlled holdouts. 911 is called regularly for a wheelchair bound elderly woman on an upper floor. Boxes of perishable items are left in the lobby to rot. Landlord is not responsive to issues. Front doors are never locked, packages are regularly stolen or opened and empty boxes left in lobby. Neighbors smoke nonstop and entire building reeks. Light fixtures regularly fall out of ceiling. Exposed brick walls are not insulated at all and you FREEZE in winter. Radiator is ice cold. Often there is no hot water. The trash/recycling situation is a joke. No one sorts their trash and the bins are regularly overflowing with rats. Complaints and requests go unanswered. Now that the pandemic is over they have raised the rent by over $1300 a month.
