Big windows? Even though they were missing screens and filthy.
Cons
When national grid came to turn on our gas, he told us that the basement was so disgusting that if it were the spring time (when bugs come) he would have refused to enter because it was so unsanitary. There were dead rats in the basement which was likely causing the HORRIBLE smell in the hallway. There were roaches antennas coming through our outlets and we’d also find them dead on our floor. We found mice poop daily. The outside of the building had rat shit everywhere. It was a really horrifying experience. The neighbors even admitted that they hear the rats running and scratching through the halls but they don’t mind it. The building was so tilted you’d immediately get vertigo. The landlord tried to tell us that all of this was “normal in Brooklyn.” We left within 4 days and are now in an apartment down the block for the same price. It is pristine with an amazing landlord. Rats, roaches, and mice are not normal in your apartment. This is not a typical Brooklyn experience. Our broker kept our money and moved someone else in (with an extra broker fee) within the week.
Advice to the owners
No amount of steel whool will save this place.
