The worse building I’ve ever lived in.
Pros
There’s nothing good about this building and the worst management and landlord.
Cons
The apartment is poorly constructed. We moved in because it was newly renovated but we didn’t know of the issues until after we signed the lease and moved in. You can hear everything from the neighborhood left, right and above. It was so bad that you can hear someone yawning on the other side of the wall. We couldn’t even sleep in the apartment because it was so loud. The walls started cracking and crumbling a month after we moved in. The shower door didn’t close properly. We notified the building manager but he never responded until we had to call 311 a month after to get him to fix the door. We told them we couldn’t live in the apartment due to the poor living conditions. The landlord asked us to pay $7000 to get out of the lease even though we got someone to take over the lease. This place is a dump.
Advice to the owners
Try to be more reasonable and less greedy. Build something nice for people to live. We are all paying expensive rent and deserve a good place to live.
Would never let a friend move here
Pros
Beautiful units with brick walls and many windows. High ceilings and doors give a very spacious feel. The bathroom, though small, has a large rain shower. There are only 6 units in the building total. Rooftop access (at your own risk) and a block away from coin-operated laundry. Only 5 blocks from the Wilson L station.
Cons
Before we moved in, the broker agreed that the apartment would be cleaned and repainted, as is the rental standard. Upon moving in, we found it left in disgusting condition by its previous tenants and the walls excessively smudged and covered in holes. There was brown water leaking from our bathroom ceiling, trash and sticky residue everywhere. It was in unlivable condition. When confronted, management denied responsibility for its condition and immediately fired the broker. They eventually sent a crew to come clean it, who even said it was disgusting. I personally had to repaint the entire apartment and pay for all the paint/materials out of my own pocket. I was never reimbursed. Fast-forward to today. This location, down to the corner, is actively being monitored by the NYPD for gun violence. We've asked for additional safety measures countless times, with little to no follow-through, and sometimes don't hear back from management at all. The noise from car stereos and people on the streets can be unbearable. The building smells horrible inside and out, as non-residents constantly leave trash and have even defecated near our garbage bins. So many weeks later and you can still smell it outside, I'm not kidding.
Advice to the owners
Invest in better building and apartment security, including locking the outside gate and installing functional deadbolts or alternatives on unit doors. Keep the hallway and front of building CLEAN.
