Unforgettable Experience (in a bad way)
Pros
The superintendent, Kevin, is such a great guy. He’s so professional, hard-working, and an overall admirable person. He was the single greatest thing about living here. Also, the appliances were brand new and in good condition. The bathroom is updated and very nice. The split A/C unit is convenient because it’s remote controlled.
Cons
The walls are PAPER thin. You can hear everything from your neighbor washing dishes to your other neighbor humming. It was quite embarrassing and limits what things you’re able to do and at what times. Also, pre-corona, there was a BAR (yes I said it) across the street that blasted music from Fri 6pm-Sun2am. Like to read before bed? Forget about it! It’s impossible here. My neighbors were absolutely horrible. They were physically abusive, loud, inconsiderate, and liars. Prepare for the possibility of music blasting at any given time of day and not ending for hours on end. I had to reach out to the office various times and ultimately threaten to withhold my rent in order to get them to do something. If you ever have issues with the neighbors, speak to them first because they will feel blindsided by the office’s message to them. Also beware, the office will do nothing to protect your identity and it will be painfully obvious who complained, so brave yourself for that. The neighborhood is sketchy, but you already knew that. Other than that, it’s great!
Advice to the owners
Hire more professional management staff who have experience in property management. Give staff a raise. Expand the lease to include provisions about noise levels throughout the day. Interact more with your tenants.
