Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants under Kamran Hakim's management experience a mixed quality of building upkeep and management. Many buildings are praised for clean lobbies, responsive supers, and well-maintained apartments with good amenities like laundry and quiet neighborhoods. However, several reviews highlight issues with management responsiveness, frequent pest problems, inconsistent heating, and lack of modern conveniences like online rent payment. Rent hikes, especially in non-stabilized buildings, are a recurring concern, causing dissatisfaction. Some supers have been described as difficult or unresponsive, impacting tenant relations. Overall, while the physical buildings are often solid with helpful on-site staff, management communication and tenant consideration could see significant improvement.

Great Building, Insane Rent Increases

Pros

The super is fantastic and responsive and cares about the building and tenants.

Cons

The previous owners valued tenants and offered more modest increases. I was told when I moved in to expect low renewal increases as the management wanted to keep good people in. This was appealing as who wants to move every year? These increases are substantial and affect everyone (except the rent stabilized folks).Well the original manager died, and then they changed managing agents to Rose Associates. Expect to be raised 500-1000 a year. They do not negotiate rent increases.

Good building, bad building management

Pros

Great neighbors, wonderful neighborhood

Cons

Building management is unwilling to negotiate with tenants. Like all other big firm, only care about profit.
