Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback on buildings managed by John MacGowan reveals a mix of experiences, with significant concerns about management responsiveness and maintenance delays. While some appreciate the spacious apartments, friendly neighbors, and rent-stabilized status of certain buildings, common issues include poor garbage management, pest infestations, and plumbing problems. Heating quality and water pressure also fluctuate, affecting comfort. Tenants suggest a stronger focus on timely repairs, pest control, and better enforcement against non-compliance within buildings. Overall, management responsiveness appears inconsistent, leading to divided opinions on recommending these properties. Improvements in communication and upkeep could greatly enhance tenant satisfaction.

Needs Proper Maintenance & Better Management

Pros

It’s a rent-stabilized building. DHCR - Queens Borough Rent Office and Enforcement Unit is good resource. Make an appointment and know your tenant rights. Be sure to get apartment registration.

Cons

This property was bought by Flushing Gallery LLC and managed by Royal Property Management. Very, very slow to respond to maintenance service requests. Best to contact 311 to put pressure on management to take care of maintenance issues.

Advice to the owners

Be responsive to tenants requests

Large apartments, poor plumbing

Pros

Great size apartments and great neighbors Close to park. Huge rooms and friendly porter

Cons

Plumbing sucks, water backs up during the fall and winter. Laundry and trash room are closed by 7 each day so can’t bring down trash after hours Noisy heaters . Heat used to be really good when I first moved in 4 years ago but now it’s not as good

Advice to the owners

Fix the plumbing!
