Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Mark Berkowitz reveals a pattern of inconsistent management and maintenance. While some buildings boast modern amenities, balconies, and attractive locations, many tenants report poor cleanliness, pest issues, and noise disturbances, especially from neighbors and nearby nightlife. Responsiveness from management and owners is frequently described as slow or nonexistent, with numerous complaints about unaddressed repairs, heating problems, and security concerns. Several tenants note overpriced rent relative to the condition and upkeep of units. Overall, expect significant variability in management quality, with common frustrations about communication gaps, maintenance delays, and pest control shortcomings.

Reviews

Former tenant·9 months ago

I don't understand how they can justify the rent prices

Pros

Stores and laundry nearby, close to the train

Cons

So many roaches, occasional mice. Downstairs neighbors always had door open and were cooking, often had screaming matches. Building is across the street from a late night, busy bar and there was always insane noise from people getting into fights outside. Landlord raised the rent from 2800 which was already too much for the condition of the unit to 3800 which caused us to vacate.

Advice to the owners

if you're charging nearly 4K for a tiny unit, make sure the cabinets are intact and there aren't roaches on the stairs. Talk to your other tenants and maybe do a welfare check

Former tenant·Over 1 year ago

Management is useless

Pros

Overall spacious apartments high ceiling

Cons

No Laundry, no elevator, hall is filthy, your neighbor's alarm will wake you up. You can hear EVERYTHING.
