Avoid living above your landlord
Pros
The apt was relatively new and had a good amount of space. Easy to find street parking. Nice big windows and AC boxes (which makes windows accessible year round). We had our own private staircase up to the apt which was nice.
Cons
There were mice and the landlord would act like it was our problem and they didn’t have any downstairs. She took $500 out of my deposit for the stupidest stuff. She gave me a receipt for things like cleaning supplies and gloves as if it cost her $500 to clean up an apartment that we lived in for one year. The space was nice but it wasn’t worth the headache of that landlord.
Advice to the owners
Treat your tenants with respect and they will reciprocate.
