You Don’t Want to Live Here

Pros

Rent is affordable.

Cons

Landlord has no interest in resolving issues or addressing building concerns. Recently there has been a squatter frequenting the building. Tenants have asked him to install cameras and reinforce locks on the doors. He, however, has been unresponsive to all requests and is disinterested in accommodating tenant welfare. He refuses to turn heating up until freezing temperatures and has no sense of respect for tenants. There must be some kind of issue with the hot water as there are periods in which the water temperature becomes freezing cold despite being on the hottest setting. The walls are quite thin, so if you are unfortunate enough to be stuck with rude neighbors, you may be woken up in the middle of the night by shouting matches or agressive stomping. Additionally, it would be wise to brace yourself for the occasional roach or mouse. If you have any other options, please choose that instead. You don’t want to live here.

Advice to the owners

• respect the tenants • address building concerns • install surveillance & reinforce locks • prioritize safety of tenants
