Great place but horrible property owners
Pros
The building itself is beautiful. I feel in love with the view on the rooftop of the Manhattan skyline. The place may seem a tad small for three people, but with the right roommates, your apartment will be amazing.
Cons
The property owners can be very rude. Rachel Fried usually will be the one who emails you and she’s very rude on the phone. If your roommates move out, hope you have someone that is willing to move in right away or they’ll threaten you with either raising your rent or with having you vacate the apartment. This happened to me twice during the pandemic and I got no help for finding replacement roommates and no help from the property managers with staying in my home. I was told by Rachel, “I would rather have you move and get three people that are trying to move in together to sell them this place than find two people to fill in the empty rooms.” Very unprofessional in my view. Not my fault my roommates left either to move in with friends or to move back home due to covid. Also a lot of things in my apartment didn’t want to work when I lived here. Currently my oven has been broken since we lived here and they sent someone to fix it and the guy “fixed” it just so it could still not work. Also I feel as if they really appreciated their building, they should have their landlord come and fix up the dings on the walls in the stairway to make the place not look so beat up and worth the price of living here.
Advice to the owners
Help your tenants out during hard times, if they’re willing to pay their portion of rent, why not help them find people to move into their apartment if their roommates moved out. If you want the money that damn bad you need to have an open conversation with them about options that don’t involve threatening them with paying more rent or evicting them.
